Bicycling 11-year-old run over by minivan. Sadder: Minivan driven by boy's mom. Dumbass: Mom was driving slow so boy could hang on to the minivan instead of pedal An 11-year-old Reno bicyclist died Sunday night when he lost his grip on a minivan being driven by his mother and was run over.
The boy had been riding at slow speed beside or was hanging onto the minivan on Filbert Road about 8:22 p.m. when he lost balance, Sgt. Martin Wright said in a news release. A Reno officer in the area immediately attempted cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
Police blocked intersections for a REMSA ambulance carrying the boy, but he was pronounced dead at Renown Regional Medical Center a short time after arrival.
