Suspect Who Stole Cell Phone, Sent Photo Of Himself To Friend

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A man who stole a cell phone snapped his photograph, and send the photo to a friend, thus giving a clue to his identity.

The phone had been stolen Oct. 25 from a pick-up truck parked on 40th Street North. Because the phone was the only item stolen, the owner did not initially report the theft to police.

But while reviewing his account several days later, the phone's owner saw that three text messages had been sent from his account to someone he didn't know. Police said it appeared that after stealing the phone from his truck, the suspect used the phone to send the messages to an acquaintance by the name of Jewls.

When he reviewed the messages, the phone's owner found that at least one had a picture attached which showed a close-up facial view of the apparent suspect. With this new evidence, he decided to call to the police and make a report.
